Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Officers report they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Police then discovered numerous other marked vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police report early analysis suggest the liquid was most likely human blood.
"Currently there is no indication as to its source; authorities are presently not aware of any injuries in relation with the event," they commented.
Local authorities said they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the community for information.
A senior representative stated the attack rendered him without words and required to be resolved quickly.
"This event affects the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he posted on online, mentioning the death of nine people by a gunman aiming at people of migrant background in February 2020.
